A core portfolio made up of index products such as ETFs and index mutual funds are designed to gain broad market exposure (the “core”) while a portion of the portfolio is engaged in exploiting certain market opportunities that have superior risk-adjusted returns (the “satellites”). The overall portfolio asset mix as well as the proportions dedicated to the return enhancing “satellites” is customized for your individual situation and often can change based on our view of the market as well as changes in your personal situations. By combining these two flexible techniques, we believe we can produce better risk-adjusted absolute returns.
