What is THG?

Tetrahydrogestrinone, more commonly known as THG, is an anabolic steroid that is similar to another known compound, Gestrinone. Gestrinone is actually a drug that is used to treat infertility in females, but with a little chemistry know-how, can be turned into a designer steroid. All it takes is the addition of four hydrogen atoms to turn gestrinone into tetrahydrogestrinone.[9] The scary thing, as indicated above, is how easy it is to make designer steroids out of other drugs. Another case of this occurred in 2002 when the same lab, the Olympic Analytical Lab, found a steroid, norbolethone, had been created from the drug known as norethisterone. Strangely enough, norbolethone was created in much the same way that THG was-by adding four hydrogen atoms to norethisterone.[10] What, then, is the problem with THG? Why is it getting so much publicity? If anything, the discovery of THG shows how easy it is to create designer drugs, and how hard it is to test for them. By normal testing means
