What is Therm-Shield Cellulose Insulation?
Cellulose is a natural fiber found in the cell walls of all trees and plants. It is Mother Nature’s own insulating material. Erie Energy Products recycles the cellulose found in select newsprint by processing it through special manufacturing mills which produce fine, short fibers. Then using their exclusive “Shield Cell” process the fibers are chemically treated to make them fire retardant and vermin and mildew resistant. Therm-Shield is a natural, non-toxic and non-corrosive,and is permanently flame-resistant- it’s self-extinguishing properties will not diminish with age. Spray-Seal is a fire retardant cellulosic compound which is applied to interior surfaces with a water base latex adhesive. The new process for application of cellulose fibers provides an effectivemonolithic seal and actually becomes a main part of the building structure. Spray-Seal is designed and tested to meet the requirements for insulating commercial construction and can be applied up to 3 inches thick on ceiling
