What is there difference between classical and operant conditioning?

Let me see if I remember correctly. I took a class on this several years ago. I believe that classical conditioning was discovered by Pavlov and his dogs. You give a dog food and ring a bell at the same time. The dog salivates for the food. After a while, the dog will salivate if he hears a bell even if there is no food. I think that B.F. Skinner was the one who discovered operant conditioning. This is when you get the subject react to a stimuli with an unnatural response. Instead of salivating, which is a natural response to food, you get a dog to do something like roll over or shake hands. My answer is not great, but hopefully it will give you the basic idea.
