Pari: The women I am involved with are not extremists. They are active because they are not satisfied and are directly affected by the status of women in Iran. Depending on their beliefs, their demands and concerns differ. But they all want better treatment of women and improvement of women’s status in Iran. Tania: Do they believe these women have made progress towards achieving their goals? Pari: The progress has been very slow and limited, few laws have been changed and they are not even aimed at equal rights. But they refuse to be silenced and remain politically active and influential both internally and internationally. To put it simply, Iranian women have won few minor battles, but the war is not over and they are not defeated. After 27 exhausting years of fighting, they remain more energetic than ever.
