What is the YouTube Symphony Orchestra?
The YouTube Symphony Orchestra is an exciting project to create a truly global, collaborative orchestra. We invite you to celebrate the Internet’s unprecedented diversity and collaborative potential through the power of music as a shared language on a global level. We hope the YouTube Symphony Orchestra will bring people together from all over the world, and serve as a venue for established musicians and emerging talent to collaborate joyfully and creatively in a new way. In essence, we’re inviting members of the public to audition for places in the orchestra, with the final selection to be voted on by the YouTube community. The winners will be flown to Sydney for a week of musical events culminating in a Grand Finale concert showcasing the YouTube Symphony Orchestra 2011, conducted by Michael Tilson Thomas, at the Sydney Opera House.
