What is the Young Marines PTF score?
PFT’s are done 3 times per year — in the Fall, Winter, and Spring. There are 5 events in the PFT. Each event is worth 100 points. Young Marines must score at least 250 points out of the 500 possible in order to receive a Certificate of Athletic Accomplishment and the Physical Fitness Ribbon Award. This Certificate and Ribbon is awarded only once a year after the Spring PFT has been completed. Each of the three PFT’s must have a score of at least 250 in order to qualify for the Certificate and Ribbon. A score of 200 is considered ‘passing’ but does not earn a Certificate or a Physical Fitness Ribbon. All Young Marines need to be doing these exercises at home as well as at our Young Marines sessions. A minimum score of 200 is one of the requirements to be promoted from Private (PVT) to Private First Class (PFC) or from PFC to Lance Corporal (LCPL). A minimum score of 250 is one of the requirements to be promoted to Corporal (CPL), Sergeant (SGT), Staff Sergeant (SSGT), Gunnery Sergeant,
