What is the year round climate of Northern Italy?
It depends on exactly where you are in northern Italy. Where I live about an hour south of Verona is generally pretty nice. It’s been colder and wetter than normal so far this year. We get very little snow in the winter, but further north in the Dolomites and Alps, there’s a lot of snow. On clear days in the winter, we can see snow covered mountains both to the north and to the south. Starting about the 2nd week in October and running through February or early March, we can get periods of fog. Some days, the fog persists throughout the day. It makes places like Venice pretty interesting. In the summer, particularly July and August, it can be very hot and humid a lot of the time. Since this is for a foods class, you might find it useful to know that the fog is actually an integral component of the process for making some products like culatelo that are specific to the region. http://www.salumicuredmeat
