What is the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality?
The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is a state agency whose mission is to prevent, reduce and eliminate pollution; to preserve and enhance the air and water and to reclaim the land of the state; to work with Wyoming citizens to plan the development, use, reclamation, preservation, and enhancement of the state’s air, land and water resources; and to retain for the state of Wyoming, control of those resources. DEQ recognizes that protecting the environment and quality of life requires a commitment to maintaining resources for the benefit of all citizens as well as an understanding and respect for the challenges encountered by individuals involved in the responsible development of those resources.
