What is the worst that could happen if I didn have a cavity filled?
If you don’t get a cavity filled, eventually it will get deep enough so that most likely you will need a root canal. Root canals are not only around $1800 (including the crown you have to get put on the tooth afterwards), but the procedure is much more complicated and potentially painful than a simple cavity. This happens when the cavity gets deep enough to reach the root, and the root basically becomes infected so they have to clean out the root (google it for more details). This can easily happen. Take it from me: I’m 25, I take care of my teeth very well, but had braces for a long time along with really sensitive teeth. I’ve had two root canals, wisdom teeth pulled, and a lot of cavities filled in my lifetime. The pain you get when your tooth needs a root canal is some of the absolute worst, most annoying pain I have ever had (and I’m no weakling).
