That you are lonely; that you can’t do things for yourself; that you want the other person’s money; that you want only sex; that you want to be seen as being in a relationship; that you want to prove your own attractiveness; that you want to do revenge to someone who dumps you; that you want children…
You’re right, pity is one of them but don’t forget money, that’s another one. last but not least … People who simply refuse to live by themslves, feel a relationship will give them security, such as young girls, dying to leave home who move in with boys/men they barely know because they don’t know/want to do it alone. Then you also have people who are simply addicted to relationships, you know they fall in love quickly then out of love within a few months. They simply have to be part of a couple at all times, even though it’s with a different person most times!
