What is the worlds smallest animal?
Tardigrades or Water Bears as they are commonly known are far from the smallest animals on the planet. They are certainly visible to the naked eye as they can reach 2 mm in length, although adult size can be as small as 0.05 mm – at this size they would be very difficult, but not impossible to see with the naked eye. One animal group – Myxozoa, are much smaller parasitic animals that can be as small as 0.001 mm in length. Much smaller than the Water Bear. I don’t think there are any smaller living organisms in the Kingdom Animalia. Stout Fish (infants or not) are very far from being the smallest.
