What is the World Food Programme (WFP)?
WFP is the worlds leading humanitarian agency feeding more than 86+ million poor in 80 countries world wide including hungry children in the worlds poorest communities. WFP is unique in that out of every dollar donated, 93 cents go directly to support field operations. WFPs life-saving programs provide safety nets and mother-child health programs in extreme situations. They are not just providing a hand out, but rather a hand up: • helping villages and communities lift themselves from chronic malnutrition by helping build infrastructures (roads, bridges, schools, medical clinics) in exchange for food. • providing food and resources to build self-sustaining communities in the most impoverished corners of the world. • provide school feeding, using as platform for nutritional interventions.
