What is the wind window that I keep hearing kitesurfers talking about?
The wind window is the area where the kite can fly. For all its practical purposes, the wind window is basically the area you can see with your eyes when you are facing straight downwind (from 85 degrees to the left, 85 degrees to the right, 85 degrees upward). At the edge of the window (i.e. the kite flying on the arc that goes from your right hand side, directly overhead and to your left hand side) the kite generates the least power. In the middle of the window (i.e. lower down in the sky and straight ahead if youre facing downwind) it generates maximum power.
