Using the Wildcard (Truncation) Symbol– Use the wildcard — asterisk * — to allow for plurals and other word endings of your keywords. When you suspect that your keywords may be used with different word endings, use the wild card symbol the asterisk “*” Think about the various forms of the word you are trying to find–for example, for the topic “river ecology” , various form of the words include: riverbankecologia riverbedecologic riverboat ecological riverfront ecologically riverine ecologies rivers ecological riverward ecologically riverwort ecology Determine the shortest form of the word that will match all of the variations you are trying to find. You would then type your keywords: river* ecolog* NOTE: Use truncation with caution.
