HyperTransport technology is designed to allow very flexible implementations, allowing data widths of 2,4,8,16, or 32-bits in each direction. Devices negotiate the maximum common bus width during initialization and operate accordingly thereafter. This should allow thin devices to interface seamlessly with devices that implement a wider data path, and vice versa.
