What is the white mildew-like substance on my plants?
It may be powdery mildew, a fungus that infects leaves during the humid summer days. Most often, as on shade trees and shrubs, it is only a cosmetic problem and requires only raking up and destroying fallen leaves, but on some plants (as on vegetables) it can be detrimental. Control can only be achieved when preventive substances are applied before infection is severe. If you have a problem with powdery mildew on particular plants, call the Garden Hotline for more information.
