The Welsh Baccalaureate is an over-arching qualification consisting of two parts: the Core and the Options. The Options are approved qualifications that students take now in school or college post-16. Students will continue to choose from the Options available in their school/college, as they do now for their post-16 studies. The Core is the new and innovative part of the Welsh Baccalaureate. This is compulsory and includes five components: • Key Skills • Wales, Europe and the World • Work-related Education • Personal and Social Education • Individual Investigation The last four components are designed to offer opportunities for the students to achieve their key skills.
