What is the weight of the Hush Puppy?
Well, that depends. I have four. The three females range from 60 – 75 pounds, the male is about 65 pounds. A friend of mine has one that is 80+. I have heard of Bassets weighing in at nearly 100 pounds…. Bassets are large breed dogs with short legs and are considered dwarfs. Because of that, they have heavy and dense bones. If you were to look at my smallest female, you’d think she weighs about 35 pounds, but put her on the scale, and she’s a whopper at 60 pounds, and she is not at all fat. It’s just those bones are quite heavy. My Bassets are rescues, so I don’t know what their breeding is, but I can tell you that I have three definite body styles/types in the dogs I have. The smallest female, although small, has a very fine head, but it’s also very “Bassety” with the jowls, saggy skin around her neck, and heavy ears.
