What is the WEEE Directive timeline?
• Became European law on 13 February 2003. • Member states had to implement directive by 13 August 2004. • Retailers to establish in-store take back or alternative collection systems by 13 August 2005. • Targets for recycling and recovery of materials and components from the separately collected WEEE must be met by 31 December 2006. • The directive came into full force on 1 January 2007. • Full producer responsibility begins on 7 July 2007.
