What is the weather like?
Summer can be very hot and humid. It is, after all, a tropical island. Temperatures from July to September average in the low-to-mid 30s. The ocean breeze helps out a bit. The south of the island tends to have better weather than the north. Sanya is generally always sunny, while Haikou can be a bit overcast. Fall and spring are the most comfortable. Winter can get down to around 15. Full wetsuits are needed in the winter.
You can expect very sunny weather year round! The weather is extremely stable with temperatures almost never dipping below 75 degrees Fahrenheit / 20 degrees Celsius in ‘winter’, and seldom higher than 95 degrees Fahrenheit / 35 degrees Celsius in summer. As a consequence the water never gets colder than 75 / 28 degrees, even at depth! Complementary of the weather gods, Bonaire is laced by constant trade winds that make our climate extremely enjoyable.
Because Southern Africa is in the Southern Hemisphere, the seasons there are reversed from the seasons in the United States. For example, when it is summer in the United States, it is winter in Southern Africa (although the winters there are milder).
