The summer will be tailing off in late August but you may enjoy some reasonably warm dry weather (20C+). You may even enjoy an “Indian Summer” with warm weather extending into September and, if you are extremely lucky, early October. However, you can more realistically expect fall (we call it autumn) to bring gradually deteriorating weather, becoming cooler and wetter. By the time you reach December it will most likely be quite cold (6C with occasional frosts at night). There could be a fair amount of rain on some days. Good luck at the University. It’s on a nice campus. Explore the Thames Valley. Have a pub lunch next to the river!
