What Is The Water Temperature Of Lake Patagonia, AZ?
Like all of Arizona, Patagonia State Park is very warm, except in the winter. I would guess that the average water temperature in the lake is in the 70-degree F range. Southeast Arizona is the birding mecca of the U.S., and Patagonia is on everyone’s must-bird list. The reason for this is the park’s large marshland and lake, which attract a big variety of species. Also, the region is special because it gets transient species from Mexico, birds found nowhere else in the U.S.You can walk around the lake with your binoculars and see many species, both aquatic and terrestrial. Camping at Patagonia, we awoke to find a row of turkey vultures staring down at our sleeping bags — perhaps wondering if we were decomposed enough to eat?In addition to the park, the town of Patagonia has home owners who invite people into their back yards to view birds at feeders. Quietly sitting on folding chairs in a yard, we saw six different species of hummingbirds sipping nectar in about an hour.
