What is the Waste Cooking Oil Recycling/Biodiesel Production Facility?
Incidence of waste water plant problems and polluting discharges are frequently due to an abundance of fats, oils and grease clogging the waste stream. It is a costly problem. Now waste cooking oil can be used in the production of cleaner burning biodiesel fuel; it can be captured as a resource, turning a liability into an asset. This plant recycles waste cooking oil. It is also a facility that, through a simple process, removes the glycerin from vegetable oil that makes it too thick to use in conventional diesel engines. What remains is a fuel for diesel engines that burns 65-85% cleaner than regular petroleum diesel. Biodiesel is a renewable fuel when it is made from recycled cooking oil. Fuel from Pacifica’s plant will be made available locally and regionally. Pacifica’s plant includes a co-generation component that will allow production of electricity for the existing waste water treatment plant. The project is a partnership between the City of Pacifica (public), Whole Energy (priv
