What is the WaMu High Deductible plan?
The WaMu High Deductible comes with a $1,500 annual deductible for individuals and $3,000 (lowered from $4,500 in 2008) for families. There is no monthly premium but you must meet the deductible before health care expenses are paid. It’s a qualifying high deductible health plan under Section 223 of the Internal Revenue Code, which allows employees to open a Health Savings Account (HSA), provided the high deductible health plan is your only medical plan.
