What is the walk called from the northwest coast of England to the northeast coast?
The walk in question is the ‘Coast to coast’ or ‘Wainwright’s walk’. The brainchild of Alfred Wainwright, a writer and hill-walker, the Coast to Coast Walk crosses three National Parks, probably (as Carlsberg would say) some of England’s finest scenery. Starting on the west coast beside the Irish Sea, By St Bees you walk through the mountains of the Lake District, across the Pennines and down Swaledale. Then across North York Moors and beyond them the east coast to finish at Robin Hoods Bay by the north sea, a distance of 190 miles. I have to add to this, I’m going on this walk soon with a mate of mine who has done this walk before on his 50th birthday he was part way through the walk on his birthday Nr Richmond when he decided as it was his birthday to have a few jars and that led to a few more and so on.
