What is the Vitality Index?
The Vitality Index is a key part of the information service and draws on specific indicators (data sets) to provide an overall picture of the relative levels of neighbourhood vitality and deprivation across the City. The Vitality Index enables us to better understand where there are concentrations and / or pockets of deprived areas in the City. We can use this information to understand relationships between issues across the neighbourhoods to help inform and focus regeneration strategies. The indicators that are currently available are statistically combined into six subject themes and neighbourhood scores are created for each of the following groups: • Crime • Education • Health • Housing • Income • Unemployment The Vitality Index is created by combining the six themes into one overall neighbourhood index.
