What is the vision for the remainder of the 500 block of West Main?
The original intention of the City when it formed the Alliance was that the Wayne would not only be preserved and developed into a performing arts center, but that the project would serve to jump start the revitalization of the downtown. Once the Wayne Project is underway, the Alliance will seek state funding for a large community center/catering kitchen/apartment building to occupy the space between the Wayne and the office building at 531 West Main. It will actively seek a buyer for the former Fox and Hounds. It will also seek to recruit a private developer who will create a number of garden condos on the remainder of the block.
