What is the Virtual Disk?
The RVS/RSS Virtual Disk is a convenient means for the user to save their data while using the System Safe (RVS 2010) or Virtual Mode (RVS 2011 and RSS 2011) protection feature. In design, it is a very large but empty file (until you fill it) with special properties that forces Windows to see it as a real disk attached to your computer when it is open (mounted). When closed (dismounted), Windows sees it as a large file with empty space. NOTE! When closed (dismounted), Windows may erroneously see the file itself as being highly fragmented due to the empty space it contains to serve as an alternate disk. You can ignore these messages. When open (mounted), you can use your chosen defragmentation solution to defragment the contents within the Virtual Disk as required. You should also explore saving data in alternate partitions – part of the design concept of our solutions was to force awareness that you do not have to save your data in default locations, especially your System Partition.
