What is the Vauxhall Welfare Fund?
This registered charity fund has been set up to help Vauxhall Motors pensioners and their dependents. Every year Vauxhall Motors provide a sum of money to distribute to pensioners who are found to be in need and the majority of these are pre- 1974 widows who do not receive a Vauxhall pension. The Welfare Fund provides special assistance for a specific item or work to be carried out in the home. The type of assistance that can be given covers most problems a pensioner can experience i.e. help with the purchase of a cooker, washing machine, fridge, wheelchair, decorating, carpets, stair lifts, beds, etc. If a particular need is identified a Welfare Officer goes out to assess the situation and completes a form and the 10 Trustee members decide the appropriate action and level of funding. To be eligible for help the applicant must be a retired Vauxhall employee or their dependent and have less than 3,000 in savings accounts.
