What is the value of the Euro for exchange purposes?
There are two ways the exchange is calculated for amounts of less than 1/2 million sterling First there is the am-ex tourist rate that all currency exchange is based on from Banks, building societies, travel agents, post office etc with ONE exception. Second there is the mid rate of currency exchange which means you receive around 4% more in euros for every pound you exchange. There is only one way to get this rate and that is to have a Nationwide Bank account and use their debit card to withdraw euros from foreign atm’s. No fees either.
