What is the validity period of a rating? How are rating changes communicated?
Ratings are assigned either to specific instruments or to the general debt obligations of issuers. CRISIL assigns ratings to debt instruments. Once a rating is assigned and published, CRISIL keeps the rating under surveillance until the instrument is fully repaid. The surveillance process may result in rating changes from time to time. Every rating assigned by CRISIL is current at all times and reflects all the available information that may impact the credit quality of the rated instrument. All changes in CRISIL’s ratings are communicated publicly. All CRISIL ratings are available on our website, www.crisil.com. CRISIL also releases rating changes to the media.
