What is the vagus nerve stimulator?
This is a two-part device requiring surgical implantation. One part is a wire that is wrapped around the Vagus Nerve in the neck, and the other part, resembling a pacemaker is implanted under the skin beneath the Collar Bone. The device is programmed to “fire” an electrical impulse, on a regular basis or on “demand” via a magnet. This system may reduce the frequency or severity of seizures.
