CALIS dial-up service supports V.92. With V.92, your dial-up experience is improved with exciting new features, including Modem On-Hold, Quick Connect, and V.44 Compression. Modem On-Hold enables subscribers who have Call Waiting to suspend their Internet connection in order to make and receive voice phone calls over the same dial-up connection without having to logout and re-logon to the Internet. Quick Connect reduces the time it takes to connect to the Internet (handshaking) by 30 to 50% by remembering the previous settings negotiated when dialing the same telephone number. V.44 Compression increases the overall throughput of a user’s dial-up connection, accelerating the download speeds of text-based Web pages by up to 60 percent.
