What is the uterus?
The uterus is a hollow, pear-shaped organ. It is located in a woman’s pelvis between the bladder and rectum. Fallopian tubes on both sides of the uterus connect it to each ovary. The bottom part of the uterus is called the cervix. The cervix connects the uterus with the vagina. The middle round part of the uterus is called the corpus. The round part at the top of the uterus is called the fundus. The uterus holds a developing fetus during pregnancy.
