What is the usual procedure for color matching?
The first step is to either submit a sample piece of the desired color, or select a desired color from a reference book such as a reference swatch book or competitor’s chart. Other required information will be the color and type of substrate that will be stamped, known stamping conditions, and whether it is a gloss or a matte. We will choose the closest that we have in stock and send it to you. If the color is not close enough, we will make sample hand drawdowns. Drawdowns are approximately 5 inches by 12 inches. In certain instances there will be more than one set of drawdowns. If the customer approves a set, he may place the order for the custom color match. If none of the drawdowns match the desired color, it may be sent back to our lab for further sets. There is a $100 charge for each set of drawdowns, but credit will be applied if the customer places an order upon approval. Average time for drawdowns is about 3 to 5 working days.
