What is the usual outcome of Parent and Child Reconciliation Counselling?
The goals of the service include: uncovering and attempting to address the reasons for resistance to visits; developing goals for parent/child contact; assisting and supporting all parties to meet these goals; and facilitating and/or monitoring access where appropriate. This process usually involves the rebuilding of a relationship based on trust between the parent and child. There is usually a gradual move towards contact between the parent and child, with counsellor support for as long as necessary during visits.
