What is the use of conducting Environment Impact Assessment?
As EIA predicts the future changes in environment it guides administrative agencies in balancing conflicting social values and environmental qualities. It helps them in making best choice among various available options. So where during EIA it is assessed that the proposed development project, plan or policy is likely to result in adverse effect on environment and that such effect is more costly than the benefit to be availed from the proposed plan or project then the administrative agency may either modify or abandon the project.
