What is the “Usage Discount” and how does it affect my total Autograph discount?
A4. The usage discount is determined by how much and when you drive. Based on extensive national data, we know that more accidents occur at certain times of the day than at others. Hence, we can reward drivers who don’t often drive as many kilometres during the times when the risk of being in an accident is highest. For example, 11 p.m. to 4 am is considered a “high risk” period. Other times are classified as “medium” or “low” risk (the chart below indicates what times are considered high, medium and low risk during the course of a week). The usage discount can range up to 15%, and is based upon the estimated number of kilometres driven per year during low, medium and high-risk periods. The usage discount begins at 25% and is reduced by 0.00085% for every low-risk kilometre, 0.00125% for every medium-risk kilometre, and 0.00700% for every high-risk kilometre driven per year.
