What is the unused part of the human brain for?

Despite what you may have heard there are no parts of the brain that are not used. You use all of you brain. This is evidenced my fMRI studies. Parts of the brain that do not get used are removed due to lack of use. One way that this happens is called stnaptic pruning. Neural pathways that are not used are removed or they are used for other processes. This is why people who are born without a sense, and often also in those who lose a sense later in life (although not to as great an extent) discover that other senses have become better. Such as a person who is born without sight being able to hear and detect odors mush more effectively.
