The UNICEF UK baby friendly initiative provides accreditation to maternity and community health services that have successfully undergone an external assessment. The initiative provides training for health professionals to enable them to give breastfeeding mothers the help and support they need to breastfeed successfully. The Welsh Assembly Government encourages all NHS hospitals and community health services in Wales to take part in this initiative.
