It’s the new program set to NASA by president Bush in January 2004. As the Shuttle is to be retired in 2010, a new manned vehicle dubbed “Crew Exploration Vehicle” will be developped by 2008 and fly no later than 2014. Its main goal will be to be NASA new exploration vehicle.
