The battery life depends on the update interval and the number of alerts being sent. Users will be notified automatically when the battery is getting low. Due to GPRS transmission battery life can be anywhere between 6 months to 5 years. The RTU uses alkaline batteries that are user replaceable without affecting the operation of the RTU. An ac power supply with battery back-up is also available as an option and can be retrofitted.
