What is the Trust’s involvement in the HEATH Project?
The National Trust is a conservation charity, independent of government. We are receiving funding through the Heath Project which aims to restore and re-create one of the UK’s most threatened habitats – lowland heath. The project is led by Natural England, and is financially supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund and Intereg 11 B involving a consortium of partners. Cornwall is an area where 90 per cent of heathland has been lost in the last 200 years, and within Cornwall, several National Trust sites are included in the Heath Project, including parts of the West Penwith Moors.
