What is the town of Peterborough like?
Nestled in the shadow of Mt. Monadnock, Peterborough is home to six thousand people. The downtown is a charming shopping district with great local shops and restaurants. The residents of Peterborough have access to many cultural events and performances such as the Peterborough Players Theatre, The Monadnock Chorus and Orchestra, and Monadnock Music just to name a few. The town is further enriched by the presence of the MacDowell Colony which is an artist-in-residence program that enhances the community in many ways. For recreation, there is a nine-hole golf course and tennis club, a state park, two state forests, several exercise facilities, a walking path, as well as a public recreation area with an outdoor pool and tennis courts.
