State and local governments are enacting tobacco-free laws across the country. Businesses are also becoming increasingly sensitive to health and safety practices at the workplace that protect employees. A worksite tobacco policy protects employees, visitors, and customers from environmental tobacco smoke (ETS) by restricting tobacco use at worksites. A tobacco policy is similar to other policies that protect employees from hazardous pollutants at work.
