What is the timetable for making admission and financial assistance decisions?
An applicant can be admitted as soon as their application is complete and the Graduate Advisor judges them to be academically qualified. If an applicant wishes to wait until financial assistance decisions are made prior to submitting their application fee and/or sending official GRE/TOEFL scores (see the third Frequently Asked Question above), then the admission decision must be delayed because formal admission requires a completed application. Financial assistance decisions for Fall Semester applicants will begin to be made in late January and continue until all available assistantships have been committed. Typically all assistantships will be committed by the end of April. Spring Semester and Summer Session financial assistance offers (if money for assistantships exists) are made less far in advance because they depend on graduation plans of students currently holding teaching assistantships.
