What is the timeline for completion of the standard?
The Draft CSBP Standard will be open for stakeholder and expert review and comment from September 11, 2009, through November 9, 2009. The Council will review all comments and publish a CSBP Preliminary Standard in early 2010. Recognizing the biomass production systems are still very much under development, CSBP will assess the Preliminary Standard after the 2010 and 2011 growing seasons, assuming sufficient acreage has been enrolled, to determine what, if any, adjustments need to be made on the basis of grower experience to ensure that the criteria and indicators of standard are consistent with the objectives of the standard. CSBP will adopt a Final CSBP Standard for sustainable biomass production by December, 2011. CSBP anticipates adopting a standard for the complete production of biofuel and biopower in 2012.
