What is the time frame for restoring service in the areas affected by Hurricane Katrina?

The BellSouth family is working around the clock to restore service to customers who have been affected by the devastating impact of Hurricane Katrina. While our network performed well, our ability to restore telephone service has been affected by external factors such as loss of electrical power and flooding. Our restoration and repair efforts began as soon as commercial power became available and it was safe for our field teams to enter the affected areas. Given the scope of the damage, however, complete restoration in the hardest hit areas will take more time than we would like.
