What is the time frame for making a 1 hour TV documentary?
Highly variable. A cheap-and-quick hour (think Discovery Daytime) can be done in a few weeks; a good quality cable documentary usually takes 4-6 months; and public television documentaries often take years, either because the budgets are so high they support it, or they’re so low that the shows are made on part-time basis.
